PayPal Donation credit card payments do not capture donor's email and name

Donations made using PayPal Donations credit card field do not capture the donor's email and name in the PayPal record.
Instead, there's a generic dcc2.paypal.com email address and no name.

Hi folks,
I received a follow-up from PayPal regarding this. Here is what they said:
Currently, as of today, like in the screenshot you had originally shared, where it shows a weird dcc2.paypal.com generic e-mail address that was auto-generated by us, this is actually expected behavior for debit/credit card transactions when PayPal does not know the payer/donor information and there is nothing passed in the orders API call. Also, this particular “Payment from” field cannot be overwritten for legal reasons. So, by design, even if donor e-mail value of person giving on behalf of someone was passed to this field, it would still be overwritten with a dcc2 email address. Again, for legal reasons, it cannot be overwritten.

Our team is having a look at this. It's been added to a list that gets attention at the end of our development cycles.

Why do we have a place to report bugs when a year later no one from GiveWP has responded and it has yet to be fixed it seems.
Ben Meredith
Beth Nichols: Happy to clarify! This particular issue has not gotten attention yet mainly because of the low number of votes, but your comment today was definitely enough for me to loop back in our development team.
You're exactly right that a bug sitting there for a year with no action is a bad look, and I'll make to escalate this one.
That said, we always have balance urgent needs (like bugs that are affecting donations coming in) with ongoing development and our current staff load.
We do hear you, and we're looking into this one hopefully soon.

To clarify: we proactively add in votes from any user that reports the issue, on any medium. So, 6 votes is not all that many in a year.

Ben Meredith: Thank you for your update. I will keep an eye on the board. For us I can definitely classify this as a bug affecting donations coming in. When missing all contact info and emails being auto populated with incorrect email addresses I can say our Board has consistently addressed it for quite some months now. But my fingers are crossed that it will be sorted and we can stay b/c I can without doubt say that when looking at alternative plugins, no one has donation templates as lovely as GiveWP's. :-)

Is there any update on this? It is really becoming a big deal.

Beth Nichols - it's been over a year and still no reply and sadly enough still the same issue. I can't even estimate how many hours I've spent trying to come up with a work around. It's odd I would sure think that most nonprofits would feel like me and Gregory that to have the inability to depend on donor info crossing over successfully would be crucial.
