Address Autocomplete

As an admin, I want my donation forms to autocomplete addresses to reduce the amount of time needed to make a gift while improving the accuracy of information.
When the donor begins typing their address, the donation form could suggest an autocompleted address through the use of an API.
Note: Address auto
complete
is not to be confused with address autofill
, which is a function of the user's web browser.Ben Meredith
Alan Owen: Hey Alan! We mark things as "under review" to indicate that the team is aware of the issue, but has not started any sort of development on the issue.
For this particular issue, we did look into it and even began preliminary planning which ultimately ended in the issue being put on the back burner pending more interest in it, and a clear path forward.
We determined (among other things) that one of the unintended consequences of the way we initially were thinking about this would be donors leaving when their address is not found in the search, resulting in fewer donations.
We're still open to looking more deeply into this, but for now it's not a priority for our team.

Agreed with Ian, this is becoming table-stakes for online forms. With the launch of GiveWP 3.0 and the Stripe Payment Element, how about we use the Stripe Address element also? This includes autocomplete for 25+ countries, as well as regional field formatting hundreds of countries.

I feel users expect this more and more and nowadays it's rare to complete a form that doesn't have it. I hope this can be looked at again by GiveWP, with UK addresses in the lookup.
In response to Ben Meredith's comment about donors potentially leaving when their address is not found in the search, resulting in fewer donations - forms using address autocomplete always seem to have a link to click to 'enter address manually' in cases where it's not found, so I don't believe this would result in fewer donations.

Would be VERY keen to have this. The address data our donors manually put in is very sporadic and at times unusable.

Any update on this at all? It's been marked 'under review' for over a year.

Not only adresses, but the whole thing prefilled for loged in donors. I have been donated to some organization regulary. And my biggest irritations was every time have fill out forms and adresses completely every time.

We've polled over 200 customers. Over 30% of users indicated they wanted that feature out of a list of 8 options.

Matt Cromwell: I hope we see this feature added soon. Whatever you do, please don't use Google Address autofill... it's terrible for most countries.
