Email notifications for abandoned donations

A lot of e-commerce sites will send a user an email if they placed items into their cart and didn’t check out. That seems pushy. In the donation world, its a much different scenario and I see the email as a good idea.
However, as an admin, I don’t want to know about it. hah I would rather the system email the user after X time to let them know their donation was not completed. They can either try again or reach out for assistance.
We have had quite a few people make donations through PayPal and not finish. They thought they completed the process. An automated email sent their way would educate them to the process and make everyone happy.
Think about it, we send an automated email to the user to thank them for the donation. It seems only reasonable if someone attempted to make a donation, they should receive a note saying it didn’t go through.

This is an interesting feature request, for sure. Right now the only potential workaround would be a Zapier workflow to find pending donations (which eventually become abandoned donations). Here's a tutorial on that: https://givewp.com/how-to-recover-your-pending-donations/

Ben Meredith: Thanks Ben, there's two sides to this - the first was why I got in touch - from an admin perspective we've had a lot of abandoned donations and would be good to have an email alert so that we can follow up with the donor immediately, as some of these have been because the PayPal link wasn't working. There's also the donor changing their mind use case, and it would be good to automatically email these donors with a prompt.
