I am in favor of removing that Donate Now button because it does cause confusion for people since many won't scroll down, but if you want to keep the button when Teams / Fundraisers are active, maybe add a drop down option of all fundraisers to allow people to select their friend/family from the "Donate Now / General Fund" like you currently have for the designations add on. This way it's a mix of both world.

This feature request makes sense, and we'll definitely consider it. The reason that the product does not have this feature currently is that, given an option, we always tend toward removing friction from the donation process. Your success with online donations is our number one priority, and more donations is always better.
If folks want donations to go through a team or fundraiser, they should give out direct links to that team or fundraiser, which again removes friction from the process.
All of that to say, we'll monitor this post for more votes and comments, and consider adding this feature.

Ben Meredith: In every fundraiser I've run, the goal is to get things directly to the membership, not to the team. However, this bumps up against another issue - not being able to format the page how you would like.
GiveWP itself says people are sold on stories - normally, we have a great home page with video, text, pictures, etc. None of that format is possible without being able to shortcode the fundraisers onto the page (or at least shortcode a page that has ONLY the fundraisers on it. Then I could at least CTA "Sponsor a fantastic member!" to that page).
By sending them directly to a member page with a direct link, we remove friction and also lose our ability to effectively tell our story. So, there's a couple of threads on here that I think are inter-related.
I build these sites for 501c3 non-profit performing arts organizations: bands, guards, dance teams, etc. I have a pretty clear idea of what the VERY large world of performing arts is looking for in their P2P sites, I only hope that Give WP can meet me halfway.

Joshua Muñoz: That's very valuable feedback. I really appreciate it. We're constantly working to build out GiveWP into the most valuable fundraising solution on the market. We're trying to meet you more than half way :-)
In the world of WordPress, there's a constant tension between making something easily customizable (and therefore having to worry about themes and other plugins breaking formatting, etc) and making things that work and look great on as wide an array of sites as possible (and therefore defensively coding things that make it hard to customize, so that it looks great everywhere.
We try to walk that line as best we can, and early on in a feature's lifecycle we tend to err on the side of less customizability. That can be frustrating for folks looking to remix and design something that looks unique, but it's a tradeoff we make.
In the grand scheme, our Peer-to-Peer solution is still very new, and will continue to get better and better. Your feedback will help to drive that. Thanks!

Ben Meredith: Thanks. I should also mention, if we're removing the "Donate Now" button on a campaign's page, the "Start Fundraising" button should also be removed, ESPECIALLY if we've already closed team sign-ups. It's another point of confusion/failure.
