Hey folks! In May, we updated form goals in our Visual Donation Form Builder to answer this need. In addition to other enhancements, we ensured that recovered fees were not counted toward the donation goal. Update your GiveWP plugin to version 3.12.0 and try the Visual Form Builder to check it out..
Forms that use the older editor (we're calling it the options-oriented editor) have not been updated. At this time, we're focusing on the Visual Donation Form Builder and setting it up to seamlessly replace the options-oriented editor in the future. With that in mind, we'll consider this request complete.
Please continue to leave comments if you want to provide more context for your needs around exclusion/inclusion of recovered fees in form goals. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to hearing from you!

Needing An Update on this please :) Our Organization REALLY needs this option. Sounds like A LOT of folks do! ANY UPDATES? WE NEED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. It's been in the que for a while now.

Jennifer Lavely Sims - This is a HUGE need. Not showing fees in the amount raised should be the default. Not the current way it operates. Fees are an overhead cost for the charity and should only be made public at checkout and on individual receipts. Fee should NOT be included in the goal amount. It takes money directly out of charity pockets as people think they have reached their goal when in reality they haven't.
For example if someone signed up to raise $300 and they hit their goal. The way GiveWP is currently set up, the charity only takes in $288 if they are only collecting credit card fees. So realistically the fundraiser should keep going. But the fees are shown on the front end so the fundraiser thinks they got to $300 but they didn't. And now the charity loses.
I understand fundraisers should be motivated on their own, but if they are reaching goals because overhead fees are inflating how much they are actually contributing to the charity then we need a solution to solve that. Which is not showing fees on the leaderboard and goals.

Yes, like other we would also like this feature to exclude fees in our goal.

Us too! This is a bit of a show-stopper for us to use this plugin - we can't have the fees collected (which we pass on to the provider) included in the amount we show donors we have raised.

This request is almost two years old. I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed before now, since I don't think implementing this feature would be all that difficult -- (1) a setting to include or exclude recovered fees, and (2) deducting any recovered fees from the donation total prior to displaying it. I'm with others here in this thread -- the default should be to exclude recovered fees fro the donation total.

David Work - I agree! This shouldn't be that difficult :(

It's hard to hit a goal when you have to guess how much more you need to include to cover optional fees that people cover.

Including/excluding fees in the donation goal is an absolute must. I really have no idea what's the logic of the current way that fee recovery addon works, it's very obvious that the donation goal is the actual amount of money an organization needs for a cause, and obviously that doesn't include fees for service providers. It's really misleading and confusing for donors. Transparency it crucial for every charity organization!
I received a suggestion from the support team to adjust the donation goal including any anticipated fees. I don't see any possible way this could work since there is no way we can predict:
- how many transactions will reach the goal
- how many users will decide to donate trough card or offline donation
- the fees also depend on the amount of the donation. How we're supposed to know beforehand how many users will donate 5, 10, 20, 50 or 100 Euro, or any other custom amount.
Also, you have mentioned before that only few people are waiting for this feature, but I bet that's not quite right - I couldn't know if this topic here existed if I didn't receive a specific link to it, so I can add a comment. Thank you to the support team for that!
Please, please, please make this a priority!
Thank you in advance!
