I second this request!
It would be helpful if we could set an optional date range for each form's "Donation Goal". This date range would then control how the Progress Bar calculates its progress.
I think an explanation of my particular use case will help illustrate why this would be a useful feature -- particularly in how it applies to Subscription donations...
We have taken to ceating a new Donation Form for raising funds to support our bi-annual budget needs. We love utilizing the "Donation Goal" to help communicate our bi-annual budget needs. The visual of a progress bar is both a motivator to new donors as well as an encouragement to existing donors. They love seeing how their gifts are helping us meet a goal. We've always ended up exceeding the bi-annual goal and that's something everyone enjoys seeing via the progress bar.
At the end of each 6-month period, we then "archive" the previous form and create a new one (with the same descriptive name) so that to the end-user, we are essentially resetting our progress bar back to $0 to track the giving of the next 6 months.
This works just fine for reflecting the progress of any one-time gifts. However, there's a major problem when it comes to reflecting any "monthly donor" Subscriptions. Since their subscription is connected to the "_give_payment_form_id" of the donation form they created their subscription with, their on-going gifts continue to count against what is now an "archived" form and are therefor not counting as part of the progress bar for the new, current donation form.
If we could have a method for setting date range to the donation goal, then we could avoid the need to "archive" our expired form every 6 months and, instead, we could simply just update to a new date range to have the progress bar measure from. This would allow EVERY donation type (one-time, or subscription) to count against the donation form's progress bar based on their dates.
The only other option I can think of is to provide a way to transfer a Subscription from one form to another -- but I think that opens up a bunch of concerns for getting donor permission (otherwise, you could have a scenario where a donor's subscription is moved from "Feed the Homeless" to "Save the Whales" without them knowing.) And I'd much prefer being able to keep one donation form alive while setting new date ranges to keep donors motivated with small goals.
