Recurring donations with Braintree

GiveWP's Recurring Donations gateway does not support the Braintree gateway. Some users think it should.

We currently don't have any plans to support Braintree recurring, due to a limitation on Braintree's side. The technical reason, if you are interested: Braintree does not support Plan creation via the API, meaning we will have to write our own custom handler for Braintree recurring, and it would not only be a ton of work to get just right, but something that we would then have to maintain in light of future changes that Braintree makes.
The bottom line: they've inexplicably made the decision to not work in the same way as other gateways, and we don't want to release a feature that would require us to support their decision, at this time.
Depending on that amount of feedback votes this post gets, we could potentially be persuaded to change our minds.

Braintree now supports Recurring Donations! Please update GiveWP, Recurring Donations, and Braintree to the latest versions to start collecting recurring donations via Braintree.

Good news! We're working on updating Braintree to support Recurring Donations. This will require updates to both the Braintree add-on and the Recurring Donations add-on. It's currently in development and scheduled for release this quarter, so stay tuned for more updates!

My non-profit needs to use Braintree as its payment gateway and needs recurring donations. How can we make this work with GiveWP?
Kyle Warden
Braintree currently offers the best processing rate for 501(C)(3) organizations at 1.99%. For small organizations like mine every cent counts. With our future plans this limitation makes Give WP really hard for us to use because we have to have 2 credit card processors and pay higher fees to use a plugin that is already kind of expensive.
